The position(s): We’re looking for a Lead Teacher who wants to be part of a caring team of lifelong learners who seek to enhance its practice, build a strong community, and support student growth. We’re also looking for a highly motivated Bilingual Special Education & Intervention Teacher who wants to be part of a professional team to live out the core belief that all children, regardless of their disabilities, have the capacity to grow and develop if properly nurtured in a caring, educational environment.

Be a leader in bringing significant and lasting change in the classroom and school by building a classroom culture that demonstrates the principles of biliteracy, sustainability, authentic inquiry, and habits of community stewardship.
Foster inclusion in the classroom by creating a community of learners and upholding high expectations for all students.
Develop and execute meaningful learning expeditions and student fieldwork.
Collaborate deeply with colleagues to raise student achievement.
What Special Education and Intervention Teachers are Responsible For
Assume responsibilities for delivering specialized instruction and research-based interventions designed to result in students’ progress and mastery of skills, high quality student work, and student demonstration of Mundo Verde values.
Collaborate deeply with colleagues to ensure curriculum differentiation and to raise student achievement.
Ensure that general education staff have access to IEPs, Section 504 Accommodation Plans, and RTI plans. This includes copies of Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Additionally, as appropriate, general education staff and related service providers should have access to Attendance Success Plans.
Employ multisensory teaching strategies based on an understanding of student strengths and weaknesses and learning styles
Monitor and support implementation of goals in inclusive classes, collaborate with related service providers, monitor service delivery, monitor behavior intervention plans (BIPs), and provide accommodations/modifications/adaptations/ support, consistent with the provisions of IEPs, Section 504 Accommodation Plans, and RTI Plans.
Work in collaboration with all general education teachers and related service providers to meet the unique educational needs of students
At least one year of experience as a teacher of record or as a Mundo Verde fellow required, urban teaching experience preferred
A DC teaching license/certification (or in the process of obtaining reciprocity) strongly preferred
Bilingual preferred for all English classroom positions, but not required. For leads in Spanish classrooms, advanced or native proficiency in Spanish required.
Special Education & Intervention Teachers
Passing Praxis I and Praxis Special Education: Core Knowledge and Application, Test Code 5354 within the first 2 years of employment strongly recommended
At least one year of experience as a teacher of record
Advanced, native or intermediate proficiency in Spanish and English strongly preferred
Urban teaching experience preferred
