General Job Description: St. Anne’s Episcopal School in Middletown, Delaware seeks a spirited and talented educator to serve as a Middle School Spanish teacher within the mission and core values of the school. Our teachers focus on the intellectual, social, physical, artistic, and spiritual growth of each child to create a learning environment where each student is known, loved, challenged, and inspired. We are a community that is sensitive to issues of social justice, mindful of the experiences people from diverse backgrounds have in our school, and active in its pursuit of equity and justice within our school community as well as beyond our campus borders. The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of teaching/classroom experience in a middle school setting and someone who strives to support all types of learners. Interest in leading global experiences with Spanish-speaking communities is a must. This position would begin August 19, 2021.
Knowledge of the best practices in curriculum instruction in middle school Spanish
Be committed to teaching all levels of Spanish language learners, differentiating as needed to ensure student success
Advise a small group of MS students and act as a liaison between the school and home
Lead daily homeroom devotions and participate in weekly chapel experiences based on the Episcopal tradition of welcoming all cultures and faiths
Be willing to coach two seasons of athletics or lead other MS student groups/clubs
Demonstrate passion as an educator, possess a comprehensive knowledge of child development, and employ a variety of teaching strategies and resources
Understand the fundamental developmental stages in the social, emotional, and academic lives of middle school students
Use technology to enhance learning and communicate effectively
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior that are aligned with our core values: respect, responsibility, and compassion
Communicate with parents on student progress
Attend specific school events/activities outside of the school day and supervise as needed
Participate in curriculum development and serve on faculty committees
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and parents as well as collegial and collaborative relationships with faculty and staff
Be flexible and collaborative as well as independent and self-motivated

Physical Requirements: Regularly sit, turn, bend, reach, stand, walk, talk, hear, and interact with campus visitors as well as with others. Must have the ability to understand and present materials and communicate with constituents and co-workers in a harmonious manner. Must be able to lift 25lbs.
