| Position Description Friends Academy, an Independent Quaker Day School, PS-12th grade, is seeking an experienced full-time Grade 4 Lead Teacher for the Fall of 2021 (School Year, 2021-2022). The Grade 4 Lead Teacher will primarily teach math, collaborate on social studies and problem-based learning, and work in partnership with the cooperating teacher who will teach Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop in a semi-departmentalized model that bridges lower school to middle school. Lead teachers should be eager to engage in ongoing collaboration with colleagues on the grade level team, specialist area teachers, and administration. All faculty members are expected to support activities and events that contribute to the life of the school and to attend departmental, divisional, and all-school staff meetings, and perform other duties as assigned. - the ability to study curriculum and do the intellectual work needed to deliver instruction at a high level
- strong knowledge of and experience with Singapore math and/or the CPA (concrete, pictorial, abstract) approach to mathematics
- experience with inquiry-based learning
- experience with Problem Based Learning
- a strong understanding of how to use formal, informal, summative, and formative assessments to plan lessons and units of study, as well as help students, reach their potential
- effective, excellent oral and written communication skills
