Special Knowledge and Skills - Knowledge of computer systems, applications programming and development, information systems security, disaster recovery, networks, and computer processing operations
- Knowledge of comprehensive, state-of-the-art technology components and technology integration in teaching/learning curriculum framework
- Knowledge of and background in LANs and WANs and the type of applications that run over these networks

Experience: - Experience in management of information systems/technology
- Experience supervising staff and/or projects of a large scale, preferably in a school district setting
- Experience in management of the District’s E-RATE program
- Minimum of five years of experience as a leader and manager with a level of responsibility equal to a campus principal or comparable district level administrative position in an educational setting
- Extensive and progressive experience of planning and implementing technology in instructional environments
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: (The following statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned and should not be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions that may be assigned or skills that may be required.) - Oversees and manages Instructional Materials, PEIMS, Library Media Services, and Technology Services departments.
- Develops, implements, and controls the overall strategy and plans for the development, deployment, and utilization of technology to support the District in departments and campus’ operations.
- Evaluates and manages technology personnel, resources, and services to provide users with responsive and cost-effective information and instruction systems.
- Evaluates potential areas of improvement that can be achieved through new and improved systems in each functional area of the District.
- Serves as primary District spokesperson for information management and technology.
- Explores new technologies for future planning and potential implementation to include collaborating with industry on technology matters and innovations.
- Keeps abreast of Federal, State, and private funding sources and initiatives and authorizes grant writing as needed.
- Writes and reviews administrative procedures to help maintain technology standards in accordance with District policies and procedures.
- Ensures protection of data, location of data, third party data hosts, and management of system credential and identity management.
- Collaborates with the C & I department to develop and implement a comprehensive staff development plan for the use of instructional technology in the classroom.
- Provides staff development to teachers and administrators in the use of teaching techniques that incorporate technology in the delivery of existing curriculum.
- Provides leadership and technical expertise to principals and other district personnel in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of effective instructional technology throughout the district.
- Works cooperatively with other curriculum development staff to effectively integrate technology into the instructional curriculum.
- Coordinates the writing of curriculum for technology-based programs.
- Develops and implements a continuing evaluation of the instructional technology program and implement changes based on the findings.
- Compiles cost estimates used in the budgeting process and administer the instructional technology budget ensuring that program is cost-effective, and funds are managed prudently.
- Coordinates the selection of instructional technology equipment and software. Maintain a database of all instructional software and licensing in the district.
- Provides expertise in developing bids for purchase, distribution, maintenance, and installation of hardware, software, and other technological equipment and materials used for the instructional programs.
- Assists in the development of policies and procedures regarding instructional technology issues.
- Compiles, maintains, and files all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Train, supervise, and evaluate instructional technology staff and make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal
- Serves as a technology advocate in the District and at the local, state, and national levels.
- Maintain a consistent professional demeanor and appearance.
- Ensure compliance with the Texas Educator’s Code of Ethics.
- Daily attendance and punctuality at work are essential functions of the job.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise and evaluate performance of assigned administrators, professional and support personnel. Equipment Used: - Office equipment – personal computer, printer, calculator, multi-line telephone, software programs and peripherals, copier, fax, and other equipment applicable to position.
