Norfolk Collegiate is seeking qualified candidates for an upper school English teaching position for the 2021-2022 academic year. This position will be responsible for teaching upper school core and elective English classes, advising a small group of upper school students and supporting the school’s mission. A successful candidate for this position will have a degree in English or a related discipline; a strong background in world, British, and American literature; excellent organizational and communication skills; and experience teaching writing to adolescents. Experience teaching Advanced Placement courses is a plus. Ideal candidates will have teaching experience in an upper school setting and a commitment to interdisciplinary approaches to learning. We seek teachers who are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about teaching young adults. Candidates should be interested in working with students from a variety of backgrounds who possess a range of abilities and learning styles. This position requires collaborative work with others; therefore, this individual must be able to work effectively with colleagues and parents. We strive to attract flexible lifelong learners who are reflective about their teaching practices and expect to collaborate, innovate, and grow as teachers and mentors.

Norfolk Collegiate is an independent, co-educational pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 school in Norfolk, Virginia. For more than 70 years, we have been developing critical thinkers, doers and explorers through innovative, engaging instruction in an inclusive and supportive learning community.
Our school is comprised of nearly 600 students and 100 faculty and staff on two campuses nearly three miles apart and within 10 minutes of downtown Norfolk. The middle (Grades 6-8) and upper school (Grades 9-12) are located on Granby Street. The lower school (pre-K-Grade 5) is located on Tidewater Drive.
