| Position Classification: Full-time, 10-month, Program Support, salaried exempt position Hours: 7:45am-3:00pm Monday-Thursday; 7:45am-2:30pm Friday (with additional hours as needed to fulfill teaching responsibilities) Reports to: Head of Lower School Position Summary: St. Christopher’s School, the largest all-boys school in Virginia and one of the largest and oldest boys’ schools in the Mid-Atlantic region, seeks a Co-Teacher for Kindergarten or 1st Grade. Serving approximately 970 boys in Grades JK-12 in Richmond, Virginia, St. Christopher’s School is committed to cultivating a school community that is diverse, inclusive, and welcoming and prides itself on bringing out the best in every boy. Co-teachers will work closely and collaboratively with other members of the grade level team, the Head of Lower School, and other resource and support faculty and staff. Principal Responsibilities: - Shows initiative and supports lead teacher in all aspects of the classroom, including classroom management.
- Supports and/or conducts small and large group instruction planned by the lead teacher. Examples include, but are not limited to the following:
- Helps boys with art projects
- Reads books with and to the boys
- Monitors independent centers (technology, writing, stamping)
- Assists lead teacher in necessary daily routines, including beginning and end-of-the day preparation. Examples include, but are not limited to the following:
- Greets the boys and helps them to unpack
- Covers recess and carpool duties in conjunction with the teacher
- Helps with preparing, checking, and distributing classroom materials
- Provides lead teacher with feedback based on observations of the boys.
- Supports the Enrichment teachers in the classroom during their lessons.
