Upper School (7-12) Art Teacher

Description

Telluride Mountain School is an innovative learning community where strong academics, enriching experiences, and meaningful relationships develop confident, curious students who passionately contribute to the world. Telluride Mountain School is a pre-K through twelfth grade independent school of 130 students located in Telluride, CO, in the heart of San Juan mountain range. 

The Upper School Art teacher will teach and otherwise support multi-age 7th and 8th grade classes, 9th and 10th grade classes, and IB Visual Art classes for 11th and 12th graders.

Professional Qualifications

• Classroom teaching experience preferred.
• An undergraduate degree or graduate degree in related fields of Education or the Arts is preferred.
• Communication skills and commitment to teamwork are expected.
• We expect a commitment to ongoing professional growth and learning, and the growth and development of others on the team. This professional learning may include up-front learning about how to support the IB Visual Arts class.

Teaching Duties

• Report to Head of School
• Implement student-centered pedagogy and TMS’s research-based elements of effective teaching
• Plan dynamic units framed by learning targets and learning outcomes
• Participate in the Experiential and Outdoor Education Programs, including but not limited to Fall and Spring Trips.
• Collaborate in grade level and department level teams to refine curricular goals
• Maintain consistent student records, as required by TMS and IBO
