St. John’s Prep seeks a biology/chemistry teacher for grades 9 through 12 for the 2021-2022 school year. The Science Department offers a program that allows students “to participate directly in the process of science by learning to frame scientific questions, analyze data, and discuss and interpret results. Structured to encourage growth, the courses meet students where they are, providing them the space and structure to mature academically and find their own meaning in scientific discovery. Experiences as emerging scientists challenge students to become responsible, active, and positive voices. The program provides students with the tools to creatively and intelligently shape a healthier and more sustainable world.” (St. John’s Prep website). A complete listing of science courses and their descriptions can be found here.
Science teachers at St. John’s Preparatory School teach five (5) classes and are
required to complete a “duty” period during each semester. Prospective candidates
should have the competency and passion to engage every student in a rigorous college
preparatory curriculum. Candidates should also have a desire to become an active and
collegial member of an adult community of learners. We seek candidates who open to and willing to embrace a student-centered digital learning model that incorporates education technology tools, open education resources, and varied instructional strategies.
