BB&N is seeking a full-time Upper School Woodworking/3D Design Teacher. Primary responsibilities include: continued cultivation of BB&N’s established woodworking program with an emphasis on craft based furniture design and sculpture; develop and expand the program to include a broader range of traditional and non-traditional methods, materials, tools and technology in the intersection of 3D design, craft and function; incorporation and knowledge of contemporary and historically relevant sculpture and design styles to support curriculum development and student engagement and self-expression; knowledge of and ability to maintain studio equipment and tools and to create a safe and inclusive working environment.
The Woodworking/3D Design Teacher collaborates closely with colleagues in the Fine Arts Department and attends regular department and faculty meetings. Additional responsibilities will vary according to current program need and new initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have teaching experience and an educational background in woodworking and preferably other fine arts. An undergraduate degree is required and a Master’s degree is preferred. Preference will be given to teachers with 3-5 years of experience teaching at the high school level.
