DA’s innovative learning model is based on the balanced application of classroom management, information processing, and academic literacy. Small class sizes of 12-14 students facilitate differentiated instruction. Flexible placement and several academic levels within each core subject, including Honors classes and advanced coursework, allow faculty to teach to each student’s optimal level. Through this unique approach, students excel in their strengths while receiving the support they need in areas of challenge.
Accountability: Reports to Head of Elementary & Middle School Division
Position Description: The Denver Academy teacher is responsible for executing Denver Academy’s mission of inspiring and empowering diverse learners through student-centered, differentiated, and transformative education. This includes oversight and responsibility for students, program and day-to-day operations in the classroom. The teacher is also responsible for communicating with parents, and acting as a liaison with other division classrooms and the rest of the DA community.
Maintains a safe and respectful learning environment
Responsible for differentiating effective and purposeful lesson plans to meet the needs of diverse learning styles
Works in partnership with Deans, Heads and Program Team for effective delivery of the DA program and content
Stays current with the DA program
Effective communication with parents
Conferencing as needed with parents during scheduled conference times
Maintain electronic attendance and gradebook system
Supervision before school, during lunch, and after school
Responsible for testing and assessment
Responsible for updating student files and anecdotal records
Responsible for completing grades and report cards before deadlines
Models professionalism in the classroom and amongst the division
Positively represents the DA community
Models conflict resolution at all levels
Models respect and responsibility
Additional Responsibilities (as appropriate):
School functions, such as: Admissions Open Houses, Dances, Plays and Sporting Events; Middle School Information Night, Back to School Night, New Parent Orientation

Additional Salary Information: Salary:
Starting salary for first year faculty without teaching experience is $50,000. Salary will be higher for teachers with experience and/or additional qualifications.
You may enroll in Denver Academy’s benefit program if you are classified as a full-time employee and have completed the eligibility waiting period of 30 days. Coverage will begin the first of the month following 30 days of employment. The benefits package includes: medical/dental/vision insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, short/long term disability insurance, life insurance, holiday/vacation pay, and sick leave. Benefits are subject to current Denver Academy policies.
