Assists the Golf Course Superintendent in managing all phases of golf course maintenance. Oversees and participates in all fertility and plant protectant programs, irrigation installation and repairs.
Assists with planning, scheduling, instructing, training, and directing crew in the performance of golf course maintenance procedures and job responsibilities.
Performs checks of processes throughout the day.
Oversees chemical and fertilizer applications and assists as necessary.
Advises Superintendent of course conditions.
Oversees cleanup and storage of tools and equipment at the end of the shift.
Advises the Superintendent of all performance issues and enforces of performance standards.
Assumes additional management responsibilities as needed in the absence of the Superintendent.
Communicates with members, co-workers, management and the general public in a courteous and professional manner.
Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
Exhibits and maintains a professional demeanor to reflect a positive image of The Polo Club.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent.
Requires knowledge of agronomy and related practices.
Requires knowledge of the game of golf.
Must be able to supervise work effectively.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to work in the heat for extended periods of time.
Must have good customer relations skills.
Previous club experience required.
Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing.
Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with management, co-workers and members.
Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.
Associate’s degree (A.S.) in Agronomy or Horticulture plus a minimum of four years related experience and/or equivalent combination for related education and experience.
Valid Florida driver’s license and a good driving record.
Acquire State of Florida Commercial Applicator license in Ornamental and Turf within six months of employment.
