The Shipley School seeks a qualified candidate to be the Assistant Head of Lower School. This position will report directly to the Head of Lower School. The position will commence in July 2021 and is a 12 month exempt position.
As part of the Lower School Leadership Team, help:
Foster the achievement, individual and collective wellbeing of Lower School students
Connect with and support Lower School families
Ensure the professional growth, individual and collective wellbeing of Lower School colleagues
Work with the leadership team to oversee and manage the Lower School program, curriculum and related professional development
Work with the leadership team to attract, recruit, and retain excellent faculty by participating in the hiring, mentoring, supervision, and evaluation of colleagues.
Work with the leadership team supporting DEI initiatives and other divisional and schoolwide committee work as needed
Be a visible presence in classrooms and assist in the day to day running of the Lower School, and support students and colleagues as needed
Develop, organize and help lead Lower School Assemblies and family events
Work with the Admissions Team to conduct assessments of perspective students
Assist in reading and editing Lower School progress reports
Help oversee the Lower School calendar including classroom, grade level, divisional and family events, and field trips
The successful candidate must...
Demonstrate maturity, collegiality, flexibility, humor, commitment to positive growth
Work collaboratively, build relationships and make connections with children, families, and colleagues
Five plus years experience teaching or in an administrative position in a school setting
Advanced degree in Education or related field preferred
Knowledge and/or training in cultural competency
Excellent speaking writing, and organizational skills
