Abraham Joshua Heschel Day School is a TK through eighth grade Jewish community day school. Its 76,000 square foot facility includes a gymnasium/auditorium, a library, a lunch pavilion, elementary and middle school media labs, an innovation center, elementary and middle school science labs, a music classroom, and a newly designed art studio, playgrounds, and an athletic field. The school’s values of tradition, character, and community have been its foundation for almost forty-nine years, and they continue to infuse students, faculty, staff, and parents with a shared vision and meaningful purpose. Our academic program emphasizes the development of thinking, problem-solving, collaborative skills, and creative self-expression which reach far beyond the rote mastery of basic skills. Modern approaches to teaching and learning (using technology, project-based learning, and an overall emphasis on student attainment of 21st-century skills) are balanced with the incorporation of ancient traditions and values that are hallmarks of Judaism. Developmentally appropriate curricula across disciplines serves as a vehicle to teach students resilience, the overcoming of adversity, and the development of confidence in one’s abilities.
