Position Overview: Oakwood School (Morgan Hill, CA) seeks qualified candidates for a full-time high school* Spanish teacher starting in August 2021. *We have the flexibility to hire someone who teaches entry level Spanish courses (one of which may include teaching some middle school students as well) or someone with the experience and education to teach Spanish III, IV, and AP Spanish V.

Teach Spanish grammar, spelling, pronunciation, vocabulary, and conversation
Expose students to culture and history
Create engaging lesson plans and activities, provide timely feedback on homework, exams, and papers, and write comments for each student at the end of each grading period.
Communicate openly with parents and colleagues
Assist in conducting high school placement assessments.
Make yourself available to students for individual help outside of class
Participate in department and faculty meetings, open house admission events, and co-curricular responsibilities—ultimately, be involved in the greater life of our school community.
Possibly serve as an advisor to a group of approximately 10 students and their families
Professional and Personal Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required; a graduate degree in world language education a plus.
Near native fluency in written and verbal Spanish.
Familiarity with effective language teaching methodologies.
Experience as a classroom teacher, especially in a middle or high school setting, is desirable.
Competent technology skills: Google docs, email, online textbook tools, Zoom, etc.
Adept communication skills, both as a writer and as a public speaker.
Flexibility in working and collaborating with others.
A growth mindset and an openness to feedback as the means of achieving personal and professional growth.
Preferred but not required: Experience teaching accelerated, honors or AP course
