Middle and Upper School Computer Technology Teacher
Manlius Pebble Hill (MPH) seeks a creative, innovative, and student-centered technology educator to join the Computer & Information Science (CIS) Department. Our school places the health and well-being of its students at the center of its program, and the successful candidate will be able to reflect and demonstrate those priorities in their pedagogy. MPH teachers prioritize the importance of building relationships with students in an intellectually playful environment. We seek candidates who can enhance our co-curricular offerings in athletics, the performing arts, and other activities within and beyond the school day. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will advise a group of 8-12 students and facilitate or co-facilitate two clubs. The ideal candidate will be creatively responsive to student needs and have a demonstrated willingness to participate in the life of the school.
The CIS Department offers project-based courses designed to teach students the value of technology as it relates to self-expression, entrepreneurship, and engineering. Additional focus is also placed on productivity and online safety, to ensure that students understand the impact digital interactions have on the real world. The position requires the ability to contextualize media tools and make them accessible to students of varying skill levels while maintaining a stimulating, high-achieving, and respectful learning environment.
The Computer Technology Teacher will instruct courses for students ranging from 6th to 12th grade. Courses and projects aid students in learning new tools and seeing the real-world applicability of their studies. Class topics include programming, video production, 3D modeling, social media marketing, live streaming, productivity tools, and current trends in technology. The educator must be well versed in digital technology and demonstrate an enthusiasm toward learning new software and hardware. Teacher responsibilities will also include providing occasional professional support to colleagues.
