Manlius Pebble Hill School (MPH) seeks an experienced and dynamic early learning world language educator to join us as a lead Spanish teacher in our Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 5 Lower School classrooms for the 2021-2022 school year. The only Pre-Kindergarten – Grade 12 independent school in Central New York, MPH provides the guidance and resources for students to develop and pursue their interests in a healthy and engaging educational setting. Our small class sizes result in transformative relationships between students and faculty, which strengthen character, build resilience, and foster self-confidence. With primarily in-person instruction, MPH teachers prioritize the importance of building relationships with students in an intellectually playful environment that seeks to deepen engagement and perspective. We seek candidates who can enhance our co-curricular offerings in athletics, the performing arts, and other activities within and beyond the school day. In addition to teaching, the ideal candidate will be creatively responsive to student needs and have a demonstrated willingness to participate in the life of the school.
The responsibilities of this position will include working with Lower School children, teachers, and parents to contribute to a supportive, dynamic environment that is responsive to student needs and interests. The MPH Lower School World Language program follows Acquisition Driven Instruction (ADI) principles and Comprehensive Input (CI) instruction. Additional experience in teaching French is ideal, but not mandatory. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree and/or world language teaching experience at the elementary level is preferred.
