To adapt to the evolving landscape of education and plan its direction for the next three to five years, The Fay School engaged in a partnership with Ian Symmonds & Associates, a leading firm in facilitating innovative strategic planning. Position Summary: The Assistant to the Principal is a 12-month full time benefits eligible position that reports directly to the Principal. They support the Principal and Teachers by overseeing the administrative duties of the Principal’s Office. The Assistant to the Principal acts as a liaison between internal and external constituents.
Responsibilities include the following:
Uses and updates Blackbaud database that houses student grades, attendance, and personal information for current and past students and their families.
Enrolls students in classes each academic year in the Blackbaud.
Manages responsibilities of Principal’s Office for midyear withdrawals and enrollments.
Generates and electronically publishes reports and directories from Blackbaud.
Manages electronic records of faculty absences in ADP with Human Resources coordination.
Maintains childcare licensing documentation and submits annual report to licensing agency.
Manages 5th grade middle school application process with support of Head of School.
Coordinates annual school portraits with photographer.
Organizes and facilitates 5th grade opening assembly.
Organizes and facilitates Principal Office’s role in Meet the Teacher and Parent Nights with volunteers and catering.
Assists Learning Specialist with CTP5 standardized testing.
Assists with carpool duties.
Orders all catering for school events when needed.
Coordinates payment, transportation and any other needs for field trips.
Keeps substitute list up to date with information from Human Resources.
Facilitates paperwork from faculty to Principal for approval.
Submits event forms to Receptionist for all events scheduled through the Principal’s office.
Maintains records of Continuing Education Units and Professional Development hours for Child Care Licensing and Human Resources.
Arranges travel and other purchases for the Principal.
Creates purchase orders for the Principal.
Performs filing, phones, calendar, correspondence, data entry, spreadsheets, compiling data.
Notifies Fay House Receptionist of any expected visitors.
Performs general office duties and other duties as assigned by the Principal and Head of School.

Bachelor’s Degree or higher
Ability to write and speak effectively.
Excellent organizational skills
Computer skills – Excel, Word, Zoom, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Blackbaud
Administrative experience in a school is preferred.
