At The Frances Xavier Warde School, our world language curriculum provides students with an opportunity to be global thinkers as they engage in learning surrounding the diversity of people and cultures. The world language teacher exposes students to the language while building a foundational vocabulary base to begin communication and create comfort with the language. Instruction is engaging through the use of songs, rhymes, pictures and technology components.
The world language teacher is responsible for educating the whole child by providing a quality learning experience to all children in his/her classroom. The teacher must possess the knowledge and theory to instruct in the content area while using age appropriate methods and procedures.
The world language teacher reports to, is evaluated and mentored by the principal and/or the assistant principal. Other key relationships include: with the Head of School, other teachers and administrators, staff, students and parents.
Qualification and Requirements
A candidate should hold:
A Bachelors or Masters Degree in Education with a concentration in Spanish and/or French
A current State of Illinois teaching certificate Type 03/Type 04
Native or bilingual speaker preferred
A Masters Degree in the special area is preferred
A candidate will need upon hiring:
A TB test
