Browne Academy is seeking a dynamic and innovative physical education teacher and coach to join our team for the 2021-2022 school year. We are seeking a compassionate, flexible, and creative individual with teaching experience in the field. Our ideal candidate knows how to connect with students and develops fun and effective PE programs. This person will work closely with students, teachers, and administrators to support Browne’s mission by promoting the core values of excellence, diversity, character and community in the educational and personal experience of each child. The teacher should possess a deep understanding of the physical development of children pre-school 3-8th grade. Duties and Responsibilities
Implement the current curriculum which promotes grade-level standards in physical fitness
Instruct students on the basic techniques needed to play team sports and other recreational activities
Model and teach the importance of living a healthy lifestyle that includes regular physical activity
Monitor and document student participation and progress
Collaborate and coordinate with teaching team to ensure consistency within the program
Maintain a safe and engaging learning environment
Coach a minimum of one season of middle school athletics
MA of Ed preferred, but not required
Experience teaching physical education, preferably in an independent school setting
Have a deep understanding of the physical development of children
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
