Oxbridge Academy, a non-profit, independent grade 7-12 school in West Palm Beach, Florida, seeks to hire a full-time, experienced Learning Support Teacher. Employee is responsible for understanding the Mission, Vision, Core Values, Employee Handbook and other school policies of Oxbridge Academy, ensuring the adherence of these policies in performance, action and self-conduct. The learning support function is to provide support to students, faculty, and families. Learning support identifies students that may need academic support and sets up a framework to implement this support. The staff is organized across subject area, with each member being competent in at least two high school level subjects. The Learning Support Teacher will collaborate with the Learning Support Team, faculty, and parents in order to ensure the success of students with learning differences.
For students with learning differences, assess their individual need for support and develop a comprehensive plan to provide such support
Meet with parents and teachers to discuss students’ needs and accommodations
Provide academic support and teach organizational and time management skills to a select group of students
Provide executive function coaching on an individual basis
Act as a case manager and advocate for students with diagnosed exceptionalities
Monitor students’ progress across the curriculum
Provide direct support in one or two academic areas
Collaborates with faculty and parents in order to ensure the success of all students
Encourages students to develop self-confidence to reach their potential
Collaborates as a team member within the wider school staff and consulting with other relevant individuals such as educational psychologists and parents
Attends professional development through in service courses, webinars, seminars or formal education

Bachelor’s degree; teaching certificate is preferred. Degree in Special Education or ESE certification preferred
Qualified to teach in either a mainstream sector or proven experience working with children with exceptionalities
Knowledge and experience with differentiated instruction and students with learning differences
Experience interpreting psychological evaluations and writing IEPs or Accommodation Plans
Proficiency in one or two high school subject areas
