The Saklan School in Moraga, CA is a small Pre-K through 8th-grade independent school with one class per grade level. The Saklan School is non-profit and is accredited by WASC and CAIS. We are looking for an experienced teacher to take over our fourth-grade class.

The Saklan School’s mission is much in evidence and more importantly, put into practice. There is a sense of community and a general buy-in of the school's mission, which is historically progressive and social/emotional as well as academic.
In the Lower School, there is one class per grade with a cap of 16 for all classes. These teachers are solo practitioners who address the needs of the individual child, emphasizing the fundamentals of reading and writing, and mathematics. The sequenced curriculum is thematically oriented with opportunities for individual expression and hands-on activities. Spanish, art, music and physical education, and technology are taught by specialists from K-5 who integrate their curriculum with the lessons taught by the classroom teachers.
Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provide differentiated, varied classroom instruction using a multi-modal approach
Provide clear performance objectives that will be widely understood by students, parents, and administrators alike
Facilitate the social, emotional, and academic development of students within the classroom using Responsive Classroom procedures to managing the class and any student behavior issues
Develop and implement student assessment methods that will consistently and continuously provide a basis for evaluating and reporting student progress
Coordinate with Dean to deliver academic and social-emotional support for students
Contribute to the community beyond the classroom
Communicate with constituents in a timely and professional manner
Qualifications and Skills
The successful candidate will have the following characteristics and skill set:
At least two years of exemplary classroom teaching experience and a valid teaching qualification
A visible love and respect for children
Experience in designing and teaching an integrated curriculum
Experience in adapting curriculum to different learning styles
A creative, compassionate, and courageous thinker and doer
A team player with colleagues and parents
A good listener and communicator
A good sense of humor
Comfortable with the use of technology
