Dawson, a K-12 independent school of 529 students located east of Boulder on a beautiful 107-acre campus, seeks an exceptional Mandarin teacher to serve as a middle school faculty member and to teach one upper school course, starting August 1, 2021. Previous classroom experience is required, and a graduate degree is preferred. A bachelor’s degree in Mandarin, Asian Studies, language pedagogy or a related field is required.
Native-like proficiency in standard Mandarin (Advanced on the ACTFL proficiency scale)
2+ years of teaching experience required
Demonstrated classroom management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Personal warmth and friendliness
An attitude that exemplifies teamwork and personal responsibility
Ability to include technology elements into all aspects of instruction
Maintain strict confidentiality in all matters
Demonstrate enthusiasm for work with all school constituencies

Report to Director of Middle School
Teach three middle school Mandarin classes, and one upper school Mandarin class
Actively participate in the extracurricular life of the School as a coach and/or club supervisor
Serve as Advisor
Participate in class trips, clubs, and Winterim expeditions
Additional duties as deemed necessary by the School
The salary range for this position is $45,000 – 70,000. Compensation is commensurate with experience and relevant skills. Benefits include Medical, Dental, 401k, and generous time-off.
