Washington Episcopal School in Bethesda, Maryland, is seeking an energetic, talented individual to teach music classes to our early childhood and elementary students for the 2021-22 school year.
The role of the Music Teacher is to teach a cohesive curriculum that supports the development of students’ appreciation and understanding of music. The teacher will teach techniques of vocal and instrumental music expression, encourage and develop students’ abilities and talents in the field of music, and develop knowledge and skills in listening to and reading music. This individual will work collaboratively with an enthusiastic performing arts faculty to plan special programs such as Christmas, May Day, class plays, and other community events.

Qualified candidates will possess a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education (or similar field), with a graduate degree preferred, and will have demonstrated successful experience working with preschool and elementary school-aged children. This individual will also need to cantor and/or accompany the weekly chapels. Piano or guitar accompanying skills are required. Experience with the Responsive Classroom approach is preferable.
