Lakeview Academy seeks to hire a full-time, dynamic upper school English teacher for the 2021-2022 school year. This position includes teaching British Literature and World Literature, with potential for teaching an AP level course. Experience teaching English, as well as an overall proficiency in (or the ability to learn) current and emerging technologies as they relate to the classroom is expected. Lakeview faculty regularly engage with the broader community experience by advising students, chaperoning school events, and participating in school meetings, committees, and events. Lakeview Academy is particularly interested in candidates who will enrich the diversity of identity, lived experience, and thinking that makes a community strong and empowers students to engage across differences.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively teach and create lessons for six English classes in the upper school
Develop lessons that are engaging and grade level appropriate
Collaborate with other English teachers on continuity of curriculum through the upper school
Communicate with parents and students regularly
Duties begin August 2021
Position is based on ten-month contract
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
Advanced degree preferred; bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of teaching high school English required
Approachable and collaborative, possess effective communication and problem-solving skills.
Excellent writing and communication skills
Excellent listening skills – able to listen to students and parents, understand and quickly respond effectively to their requests.
