Greenwich Academy seeks a skilled language teacher to teach in the Middle School. Above all, the school seeks an educator who loves working with Middle School students and who is eager to use a highly interdisciplinary approach to introduce students to the study of a world language. Multilingual candidates are preferred, but both Spanish-only and French-only candidates will be considered. GA’s goal is for language classes to be conducted exclusively in the language of study. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and accessible teacher, eager to inspire and support students in the early stages of their development of language proficiency in alignment with the ACTFL world readiness standards. A commitment to teaching Middle School girls is essential, as is an eagerness to advise and mentor them in all areas of their school lives.
For beginning teachers, a fellowship offers the opportunity to teach motivated, engaged students in a community that prizes learning and professional growth. Fellows will receive extensive mentoring from colleagues in the department and will have the opportunity to observe classes taught by those colleagues regularly. The fellow will likely teach two sections and will be asked to participate in other areas of school life. Participation in the University of Pennsylvania's Independent School Teaching Residency Program will be supported by Greenwich Academy if the fellow chooses to pursue a master's degree while at the school.
Veteran candidates will be considered for a full teaching load that may include coverage of an Upper School sabbatical in the spring semester.
Successful candidates will be excited to work in a rigorous academic environment and will be eager to immerse themselves in the school community. We expect all teachers to embrace a commitment to a variety of teaching strategies, to be enthusiastic learners themselves, and to be dedicated to sustaining a culture of anti-racism and anti-bias in our community.
