Annie Wright Schools are seeking a Preschool Classroom Assistant Teacher to begin June 17, 2021. This is a full time staff position and reports directly to the Lower School Division Director.

The Preschool Classroom Assistant Teacher is a passionate educator who finds joy in working with young students in their beginning journey into school. They are intuitive and see the social-emotional needs that arise throughout the school day when working with three to five year olds. Their love of learning leads them to make connections with the students of their learning in the world around them. The Preschool Classroom Assistant Teacher understands the importance of their role as a support to both the lead teacher and the students, and is comfortable stepping in as needed to assist in a variety of duties from Morning Meeting to snack and recess to rest time and station rotations. The Preschool Classroom Assistant Teacher builds strong relationships with students, supporting them to be their best as a learner and a friend. They see them for who they are, build upon their strengths and with the classroom teacher, support them in their areas of growth. While there is always work to do in the Preschool classroom, the Preschool Classroom Assistant Teacher approaches each day with flexibility and positivity, allowing them to have fun above all else with the students and teachers.
Core duties & responsibilities
The Preschool Classroom Assistant Teacher:
assists in the Preschool classrooms in the Lower School and supports school policies and procedures in alignment with the mission and philosophy of Annie Wright Schools and with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) framework;
assists in supporting the academic and social and emotional growth of the students;
supports the lead teacher with classroom management;
facilitates the end-of-day transition for students from the classroom to carline, bus routes, Extended Day, or Clubs, and performs other duties as assigned;
assists in supervising and leading as part of the Preschool Wraparound program during school breaks and summer programming;
maintains a professional relationship with families and assists teachers with feedback through weekly class pages, in conferences twice a year, and on written progress reports twice a year;
invites feedback and follows direction from lead teachers, and maintains a cordial and professional relationship with colleagues.
The Preschool Classroom Assistant Teacher:
holds a high school diploma (bachelor’s degree is preferred);
has experience working with preschool aged children;
demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with the Preschool teaching team;
is open to feedback and support to grow professionally;
practices cultural humility in personal interactions;
is available to work year-round from 7:30am - 4:00pm or 9:00am - 5:30pm.

Additional Salary Information: Compensation includes competitive benefits including medical and dental benefits, a retirement plan and daily lunch. This is an hourly staff position and pays at $17.02 an hour.
