The Math Teacher vacancy is a full time position, expected to begin late-August and last for approximately 6 weeks, reporting to both the Head of the Intermediate School and the Head of the Upper School. This position is responsible for teaching one section of 7th grade math and three sections of upper school math (algebra and geometry).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach course load of four classes.
Prepare lesson plans following curriculum guidelines and requirements.
Teach the assigned curriculum using different instructional resources.
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities by integrating competencies, and goals into the lesson plans.
Keep attendance records; manage student behavior in the classroom and maintain a positive educational environment for all students.
Correct assignments, administer tests, observe and evaluate students’ progress.
Demonstrate personal leadership qualities to inspire student learning, including understanding of the characteristics of the age group taught.
Meet with the parents to discuss student progress and challenges.
Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and other teacher training workshops.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree required, with a minimum of two years’ experience teaching math at the 7-12 level.
Experience in a full range of courses including pre-algebra through algebra 2.
Skilled in writing and preparing lesson plans.
Ability to communicate, motivate and understand the students’ educational and emotional needs.
Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with other teachers, support staff, parents and members of the community.
Ability to recognize and respond to individual and cultural differences in students and utilize different teaching methods that will result in higher student achievement.
Enthusiasm and joy for working with students.
