St. Andrew’s Episcopal School seeks to hire a full-time, innovative, collaborative, and knowledgeable homeroom teacher with responsibilities to begin August 1, 2021. Preferred candidates will be enthusiastic and passionate about teaching third graders in a progressive learning community, with a professional orientation for daily collaborative work, team communication and continued professional development. Candidates are expected to have favorable attitudes or prior knowledge for project-based instruction, social emotional learning, responsive classroom, technology integration, curriculum development, differentiation, effective parent communication and reflective practice. Preferred candidates will have experience with social justice education and culturally relevant pedagogy. Finalists are expected to be familiar with responsive instruction to student inquiry, cognitively guided instruction, balanced literacy instruction, writer’s workshop and the facilitation of student-led portfolio conferencing. The individual selected for this position will be expected to engage, motivate, assess and develop student learning while managing the routine classroom activities for 18 students, including the daily instruction of language arts, science, mathematics and social studies in developmentally appropriate ways. Third grade teachers are also responsible for developing student field experience that is an enriching natural extension of student learning in the classroom.
