Davidson Day School is seeking a full-time Middle School Spanish Teacher to join our Middle School team starting August 1, 2021. This position will be exempt and report directly to the Head of Early Childhood to Middle School.
Design and implement an engaging Spanish program for students in grades 5-8.
Cultivate an appreciation for Spanish-speaking cultures.
Develop language skills through reading, writing, speaking, and listening using experiential lessons and projects.
Collaborate with the Middle School teaching team to incorporate cross-curricular learning experiences.
Use technology resources to enhance the learning experience for students.
Communicate with parents about their child’s progress and any concerns as needed.
Keep accurate attendance records and compose report cards in a timely manner.
Develop and maintain a webpage on the student and parent portal.
Serve as a student advisor.
Assist with all duties (lunch, recess, and carpool).
Attend and support school events which occur after hours and on weekends.
Attend and contribute to faculty meetings (All School, Middle School, and Department).
Perform all other duties appropriate to employment as determined by the Head of School.
Comply with all rules and regulations established as school policy.
Master’s degree in education or language instruction preferred. Bachelor’s degree required.
Fluency in Spanish required.
Prior experience teaching middle school students preferred.
Excellent interpersonal skills for developing meaningful connections with children, parents, and colleagues.
Ability and desire to work collaboratively and design enriching educational experiences for students.
