St Hilda's & St. Hugh's is seeking a culturally competent, experienced Early Childhood Headteacher for the 2021-2022 school year. The ideal candidate will value play-based, joyful learning in an inclusive, welcoming community and culture.
The Headteacher is responsible for planning and implementing curriculum, evaluation, assessment, communicating with families, and supporting the school's mission. They will demonstrate flexibility and commitment to a continuous process for professional growth and value feedback, and a strong sense of community and shared purpose.
Design instruction that is aligned to school-wide and teacher-created learning outcomes
Organize classroom systems and procedures and ensure all students are fully engaged
Demonstrate skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds
Effectively collect and track critical student data and utilize data to accommodate, differentiate instruction, or modify curriculum to achieve student success
Research and use a variety of methods to engage students in the classroom
Develop assessments that measure student progress; continuously use both formative and summative assessment data to refine curriculum and instructional practices. Evaluate student progress through the use of project-based learning and formative assessments
Provide students and their families with regular and timely information on classroom activities and student progress; find ways to involve parents/guardians in their child’s education
Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum and create plans
Maintain accurate attendance records in Veracross and update student records on a weekly basis
Demonstrate knowledge through actions of SHSH’s mission, vision, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and ethical code of behavior.
Education, Experience, Skills: Bachelors and at least 6 years of experience. Masters preferred. Knowledge and understanding of units studied and effective presentation skills. Understanding of the development of young children and their educational and emotional needs. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Must be able to effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and via e-mail.
