Under the supervision of the Lower School Director and the Associate Director for Intermediate Grades, the teacher will instruct students according to the prescribed LHPS third grade core curriculum e.g. math, science, English, reading, etc. The teacher will perform related teaching tasks and functions such as planning, research, curriculum alignment, assessment and record-keeping in an efficient and effective manner. As needed, the teacher will also willingly participate in the school community and student co-curricular activities.
- Instructs students using various teaching methods, such as direct instruction, demonstrations, collaborative learning, hands-on activities using audiovisual aids, technology and other resources to supplement instruction. - Prepares a yearly plan, course objectives and unit outlines for course of study following curriculum guidelines and/or requirements of the State of Florida, LHPS, and accrediting agencies. - Collaborates effectively with grade level team to discuss grade level progress, planning, assessments, projects, and student progress. - Provides frequent feedback on all learning activities ensuring they are appropriate for each student. - Administers both formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and adjust teaching plan. - Keeps accurate and up-to-date student records. - Issues reports to parents to inform about progress and assessment results. - Keeps attendance and grade records. - Must be able to work well with children and have a working knowledge of child development at the third grade level - in which they will be teaching. - Builds classroom community and safety through consistent classroom management, based on Responsive Classroom techniques. - Meets and/or communicates effectively with parents to discuss individual student progress and problems. - Participates in faculty and professional meetings, curriculum projects as needed, and teacher training workshops in support of ongoing, professional growth. - Keeps teacher certification current; provides Human Resources a copy of Certificate or Statement of Eligibility and with proof of courses taken towards certification or re-certification. - Should be willing to do whatever necessary to assure comfort, safety and health of students entrusted to him/her. - Performs other duties as requested or assigned.
