St. Johns Country Day School, an independent college preparatory school, is seeking an experienced full time Lower School music teacher who is skilled in teaching students from age 3 through Grade 5.
The successful candidate will join an energetic performing arts department teaching music courses to students from Pre-K3 to Grade 5. A strong background in music theory, an Orff background, strong organizational skills, and piano capabilities are required. In addition, the ideal candidate will have a passion for working with and relating to children.
The position requires a bachelor’s degree in music education. A master’s degree is preferred.
Holds or able to hold a Florida Professional Educator License with appropriate endorsement(s.)
Display strong communication skills (written and oral).
Be enthusiastic and energetic and have full command of the appreciation for all of the arts.
Essential Job Skills:
The successful candidate will excel at performing the following duties, among others not listed:
Supervise students in a variety of school settings.
Teach content and skills using the curriculum designated by St. Johns Country Day School.
Display an ability and willingness to integrate music and music appreciation into all aspects of the core subject classrooms.
Modify instructional plans and materials to meet individual student needs based on the analysis of data.
Evaluate and assess student progress against instructional objectives.
Maintain accurate, efficient, and effective records for instructional and non-instructional purposes.
Participate in staff meetings, join a staff committee, and support student activities (i.e. after school clubs, theater, etc.)
Demonstrate knowledge of educational research, trends, and best practices.
Be a reflective practitioner.
Be a reliable, encouraging communicator with students, parents, and coworkers.
Be a positive role model.
Be a team player.
Additional Salary Information: Compensation and Benefits
This position is for the 2021-22 academic year. A salary commensurate with experience, degree attainment, and qualifications is paid to employees annually.
