Friends Academy, Independent Quaker Day School, PS-12th grade is seeking a full-time experienced Visual Arts Educator, emphasis in Photography, Digital & Analog to join a dynamic Arts Department. We are looking for an educator who is comfortable working with all ages, centering on work with students in grades 5-12, and can provide a wide-scale vision, design, and implement curriculum. The essential duties of this position will guide students as they grow in their enjoyment, appreciation, creation, and understanding of both Visual Art and themselves. The ideal candidate would be prepared to develop a comprehensive program in the area of photography, both digital and film, including the darkroom developing process. Support activities that contribute to the life of the school and attendance at all-school faculty meetings, events, back-to-school nights, and department and divisional meetings.
Education and Experience:
We will consider candidates who can demonstrate the following competencies and attributes:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Arts Education, a Master’s Degree is preferred
Experience with Lower School age students, and can provide differentiated instruction to meet individual students needs
Ability to enhance/create a curriculum that includes progressive and student-centered learning mixed with engaged and measured ensemble goals
Creative, energetic educator interested in working closely with both students and faculty
Strong team member with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Professional Development in DEIJ and/or Identity work
An interest in our Quaker mission and educational philosophy
Interested in advancing skills and learning through professional development
Ability to teach both in-person and virtually
