The Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, MD is seeking candidates to fill the position of High School Biology Teacher for the 2021-2022 academic year.
The ideal candidate will have three or more years of highly successful formal teaching experience and demonstrated passion for and excellence in the teaching of biology and 21st century skills to high school students. The ideal candidate is creative and collaborative and has demonstrated success at and enjoys working as an active member of a team. Student-centered learning and hands-on lab experiences are the hallmark of their classroom. The ideal candidate has demonstrated the ability to build positive relationships with students, manage a classroom, and is comfortable working with a range of learners. Experience in differentiated instruction and working with students with diverse learning needs preferred.
Teaching Biology to students in the 9th grade, both at grade level and in advanced level classes;
Participating in team meetings to review curriculum and discuss student progress;
Working collaboratively within the Upper School science department and high school faculty.
The candidate must possess a BA or a BS in Biology or a related field; MA preferred but not required.
Candidates should have at least three years of successful teaching experience in collaborative working environments.Â

Faculty may be asked to perform their work responsibilities on campus and/or at home. In both settings, the teacher is required to maintain a professional environment.
While on campus, classes may be operating either in person or in an alternative setting. Teachers are expected to be present and accessible for the entire school day (contracted hours), regardless of the setting.
