The Teacher Education Department at Saginaw Valley State University invites applications for a full-time temporary position as an Assistant Professor of Social Studies Education. This is a one-year appointment.
We seek an experienced colleague possessing diverse perspectives to collaboratively engage in the service culture of the College of Education.
Responsibilities include teaching courses for methods of Prek-12 Social Studies at the undergraduate level, working in collaboration to ensure consistency amongst sections of coursework, and supporting the development and implementation of new programs for teacher certification.
Applicants must be able teach on campus and complete training for teaching online at SVSU by the end of August 2021.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in Education or related field Minimum three years classroom teaching experience in preK-12th grade classrooms teaching Social Studies Experience with designing curriculum focused on preK-12th grade teaching Knowledge of Michigan standards for lower and upper elementary teacher preparation Knowledge of the National Council for the Social Studies standards
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate or ABD in Social Studies Education or related field. Experience designing curriculum, teaching undergraduate coursework, or supervising fieldwork focused on Social Studies or professional practices. Knowledge of accreditation and program assessment Experience in using digital technologies for teaching and assessment
