General Job Description: St. Anne’s Episcopal School in Middletown, Delaware seeks a spirited and talented individual who enjoys working with middle school students. The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of language arts teaching/classroom experience and be someone who strives to support all types of learners. In addition to providing language arts instruction, middle school teachers serve as advisors to grade-level advisory groups of 6-8 students.

Teach middle school language arts to two sections of 7th-grade students and two sections of 8th-grade students or two sections of 5th-grade students and two sections of 6th-grade students.
Differentiate instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying abilities, attitudes, and cultural backgrounds
Understand the fundamental developmental stages in the social, emotional, and academic lives of middle school students
Use technology to enhance learning and communicate effectively
Establish and maintain standards of student behavior that are aligned with our core values: respect, responsibility, and compassion
Communicate with parents/guardians on student progress
Attend specific school events/activities outside of the school day and supervise as needed
Lead daily homeroom devotions and participate in weekly chapel experiences based on the Episcopal tradition of welcoming all cultures and faiths
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, and staff
Attend weekly Faculty Meetings
Be willing to coach two seasons of athletics or lead other MS student groups/clubs
Advise a small group of MS students and act as a liaison between the school and home
Demonstrate passion as an educator and employ a variety of teaching strategies and resources
Participate in curriculum development and serve on faculty committees
Be flexible and collaborative as well as independent and self-motivated
Continue to learn and grow professionally as an educator

Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in English or a related field required, master’s degree preferred

Physical Requirements: Regularly sit, turn, bend, reach, stand, walk, talk, hear, and interact with campus visitors as well as with others. Must have the ability to understand and present materials and communicate with constituents and co-workers in a harmonious manner. Must be able to lift 25lbs.
