The Cooper School is seeking a dynamic and experienced educator to teach Math for 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders in our new Middle School program. Qualified candidates should be able to teach all levels of middle school mathematics, including algebra one and geometry, as we differentiate instruction. Our project-based curriculum integrates fundamental science concepts and skills from the physical, life, and earth sciences along with introductory robotics and engineering.
Teach 4 Math classes of about 20 students in the context of an integrated curriculum.
Work to ensure academic excellence by fully knowing students and adapting curricula to meet their needs
Collaborate in the design and implementation of an integrated curriculum
Collaborate with peers and specialists to engage students in deep, interdisciplinary project work.
Keep careful anecdotal and assessment records and use them to write accurate, comprehensive student reports
Act as an adviser to a group of Middle School students
Commit to the academic and social mission of The Cooper School, which requires differentiation
Participate fully in the active and rich life of The Cooper School
Engage in ongoing communication with parents/guardians
Ideally, candidates should have experience with project-based learning, incorporate inquiry-based instruction, and enjoy collaborating with their peers. Candidates should be able to demonstrate flexibility, creativity, enthusiasm, professionalism, and an understanding of the unique needs of Middle School students.
