Position Summary In support of Pacific Ridge’s mission, teachers teach, advise, supervise, care about the students, work in partnership with parents, advocate and promote the School, work collegially with administrators and fellow faculty, and grow professionally. The role of teacher at Pacific Ridge School is a pivotal, dynamic position on campus. A part-time teaching positions includes teaching one to two sections and a full-time teaching position includes teaching three to four sections.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to, the following) • Plan for and teach curriculum relevant to teaching load • Collaborate with co-teachers (if applicable) and grade level team members • Communicate with students and parents in a timely and professional manner • Participate in school events (including but not limited to Back to School Night and Parent Conferences, Student-Led Conferences, Admissions Events), field trips, chaperone duties, and faculty meetings • Chaperone global travel trip (international and/or domestic) • Attend faculty orientation week • Provide leadership in service learning, clubs, and/or advisory as assigned • Support the PRS Mission • Other duties as assigned in partnership with the Dean of Faculty, Division Heads, Head of School or designee
Qualifications (minimum requirements) • BFA in studio art, MFA preferred • At least three years teaching experience preferred, ideally at the secondary school level • A portfolio of personal art practice • Demonstrated record of innovation and professional growth in a school setting
Preferred Skills • Versatility as an artist-teacher among 2D and 3D media (e.g., Drawing, Painting, Ceramics, Sculpture) • Some experience and training in digital media (graphic design or digital photography) • Enthusiasm for teaching studio art to middle school and upper school students alike • Ability to organize and manage all aspects of an art studio including art materials, budget, equipment and room space as well as various visual arts displays on campus • Interest in and willingness to encourage and support student participation in arts shows and competitions • Interest in and willingness to collaborate with visual and performing arts teachers on school-wide art shows and festivals
