BARGAINING UNIT / LEVEL: Superintendent/Department Head Level 14
SALARY RANGE: $102,047 - $118,343 annually DOQ
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under the direction of the Deputy Director or designee, position performs complex technical, professional and administrative work in all phases of operating, planning, development, and maintenance of HCMA parks, facilities, and programs.
Bachelor’s Degree in parks and recreation, business administration, management or related field. Master’s degree preferred. Applicants with 10 or more years of management/leadership experience will be given credit toward meeting the minimum educational requirements and will be considered for the position.
Eight years administrative experience in park and/or recreation administration.
Skill in supervising, directing, counseling, training and planning effective utilization of physical facilities and staff of multiple parks.
Knowledge of accounting principles, budget controls, auditing, cash controls and professional standards and ethics.
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, filing and record management systems, computer applications such as word processing, data base programs and spreadsheets, and other office procedures.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws governing employment and business operations.
Knowledge in golf course management and maintenance and/or retail management preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must have the ability to utilize telephone, radio equipment, and computer.
Ability to effectively delegate authority and responsibility while maintaining appropriate levels of operational control.
Ability to make strategic decisions pertaining to staff and procedures.
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with the Board, the public, outside agencies and employees.
Ability to manage employees within a union environment.
Ability to execute fair and objective performance evaluations and create productive work environment.
Ability to work under stressful conditions and varied hours including weekends and holidays, depending upon marketing events and programs.
Ability to travel locally, and statewide.
Ability to implement new initiatives and demonstrate creativity.
May be required to adjust schedule to meet organizational needs.
Ability to perform essential duties.
