The Foote School seeks a talented, energetic individual to join its faculty as a long-term substitute for our upper elementary music program. Music and the arts play a key role in each student’s experience. One of the primary goals of arts instruction at the Foote School is to develop and expand children'snatural abilities of perception, interpretation, and appreciation of the forms, sounds, and language of creativity.Our curriculum is designed to encourage a positive attitude and a lifelong interest in the arts.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in music instruction and should demonstrate passion for the subject along with flexibility, creativity, and a deep interest in this age group. This is a long-term substitute position beginning mid-August through Thanksgiving, and anticipated hours will be from 11:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.

Present an inspiring and engaging (general/vocal) curriculum based on a Kodály sequence that builds understanding of music, includes soprano recorder instruction and the teaching of folk dance
Collaborate with fellow music teachers and other faculty members to prepare students for performance at several all-school assemblies and events during the year
Bachelor’s degree in music education
Experience teaching elementary age children
Training in the Kodály method and solfège instruction is preferred
Mastery of an instrument such as piano or guitar for accompaniment in performances. ? A commitment to professional growth and innovative thinking
