Summary/Primary Objective of Position: Under the supervision of the High School Principal, the High School Associate Principal provides assistance with implementation of the vision and goals for the hs, instructional leadership, program development, supervision of students and staff, and management in implementing the policies of the School Board and district administration in the teaching, learning, and other activities at the High School.
Assist the principal in providing leadership in the development of and the fulfillment of the school’s vision, mission, and goals. Support the principal in administrative assignments.
Serve as a member of the District’s administrative team and actively participate in the development, implementation, and achievement of District and building goals.
Provide daily work direction and support to the assistant principals and ensure implementation of building operational goals and a positive school culture.
Supervise the TOSA for Student Affairs and Student Affairs Office. Ensure oversight of student disciplinary issues and follow-through with administrative team, teachers, and staff that enhances school culture.
Lead and provide oversight to complex student issues and HR issues and investigations.
Provide oversight and leadership of MHS signature programs.
Provide leadership for the instructional leadership teams.
Actively participate in the recruitment, selection, staff development, and evaluation of staff members.
Communicate with parents, community members, and parent organizations concerning school programs and activities.
Develop and complete mutual commitments tied directly to District goals.
Serve as administrative head of the school in the absence of the principal.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
Current principal licensure in the state of Minnesota
Evidence of successful high school teaching experience, with supervisory or coordinating experience preferred
Experience working with students in grades 9-12 preferred
Evidence of an excellent record of past professional performance applicable to performing all duties of the position.
Strong track record of accomplishments and leadership as a high school assistant principal (minimum of 3-5 yrs) or as head principal
Exceptional communication skills and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Evidence of excellent human relations skills demonstrated in a variety of professional settings, including conflict resolution with youth and adults, small and large group facilitation skills
