Divine Child is the largest co-educational Catholic high school in Michigan, located in the city of Dearborn. Divine Child High School is seeking a reflective, engaging, and innovative administrator to lead the faculty, student, and parent communities to best support the mission and vision of Divine Child. The principal will guide the parish-based high school, a partner to Divine Child Elementary School (K-8), in a manner that supports its rich Catholic faith and tradition.
The principal is responsible for leadership of all aspects of the school, including modeling behavior and directing energies and resources of the school community to promote strong academic practice and faith development driven by the Gospel message. The principal collaborates with the Divine Child Pastor in shepherding the faculty and student body on all matters relating to the school and its mission. As the educational leader, the Principal drives faculty development and collaboration and is responsible for all aspects of the school’s instructional programs.
Qualifications, Education and Experience
Be a faith-filled practicing Catholic who will embrace and promote the Catholic identity of the school;
Possess a graduate degree, preferably in Educational Administration, from an accredited college or university; and hold a currently valid Michigan School Administrator certificate;
Prove successful administrative experience at the secondary level;
Demonstrate excellence in the following skill areas: communication, collaboration, innovation, relationship-building, and servant-leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee all school operations as head administrator of Divine Child High School
Create a caring and supportive learning environment for both faculty and students, and in support of parent engagement
Represent Divine Child High School within the Archdiocese of Detroit network of schools, as well in any appropriate professional membership forums
Facilitate the recruitment, hiring, and professional development processes for all faculty and staff, including management of all extra duties and assignments
Oversee all staff and faculty matters, including coordination of regular staff meetings, annual review processes, staff development, personnel record-keeping, management of staff leave, as well as dismissal of faculty and staff personnel
Oversee all student matters, including admission and enrollment, academic engagement, student activities, and discipline
Maintain systems for excellence in curriculum delivery, academic instruction, student assessment, delivery of student services, and athletic and extracurricular engagement in a manner that supports the school’s Catholic identity
Direct the implementation of, including revisions to, the school curriculum in conjunction with Administration and Faculty Department Leader teams
Support the efforts of community relations, school culture and climate initiatives, and continuing school improvement plans
Support the relationships with Dearborn Public Schools and Crestwood Schools, as it relates to coordination of faculty matters and special education services
Oversee and support the recruitment, admission, and orientation of new students
Oversee and approve school-sponsored functions and events
Collaborate on development of annual budget and ensure approval of all school expenditures
Oversee school accreditation process
Prepare the annual budget and approves all expenditures
Collaborate with Divine Child Elementary School administration
Maintain effective communication with parents, faculty, students and the local community; support positive public relations efforts.
