The essential function of the position within the organization is to assist with overseeing the maintenance of the City’s golf course.
This position’s primary duties are:
Supervises staff, including selecting or recommending selection, training, assigning and evaluating work, counseling, disciplining, and terminating or recommending termination.
Plans and organizes activities for area of responsibility; performs maintenance tasks such as mowing and applying chemicals to greens to assists with completion of departmental tasks.
Assists with development and implementation of long-range plans, policy, and procedures; plans and implements construction projects with approval of Superintendent.
Assesses golf course conditions on a regular basis and maintains record system of data and observations.
Performs periodic inspections of equipment of responsibility to ensure safe and optimal performance.
Gathers and maintains information/data to support periodic and special reports documenting activities for area of responsibility.
Attends and/or conducts staff meetings to exchange information; attends in-service training and technical or professional classes or seminars to improve technical or professional skills.
Requires education or training equivalent to an Associate Degree in Turf Grass Science, botany, agronomy, business management, or a closely related field. Requires Tennessee Pesticide Applicator License. Requires one year of related experience.
