Georgetown Day School Instructional Coaches ignite, nurture and inspire the passions of new and returning employees in their continual growth journey as skilled teaching professionals. In partnership with the Assistant Head of School for Curriculum and Instruction, the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion as well as Middle School leadership, the instructional coach is responsible for developing teacher capacity as culturally responsive, anti-racist, student-centered, data-informed and self-reflective instructors. In this non-supervisory role, the coach will work collaboratively with adults in the Middle School as well as with coaches in the Lower and High School divisions.
You will work with key leadership to:
·Support and inspire. Buttress the skills of committed, talented teachers in translating the school’s core values of equity, justice and inclusion into research-based, culturally relevant pedagogy in each classroom. Support the expansion, refinement and addition of research-based best practices in their teaching toolboxes.
·Partner with purpose. Actively participate in the instructional coaching model to support the professional development of a world-class team of 5th-8th grade faculty who embark on a mission that is critical to our world’s future. Coach teachers in their understanding and implementation of transparent rubric criteria that reflect the school’s philosophy and values.
·Cultivate a culture of inquiry. Foster growth mindsets by modeling and encouraging reflective practice and intellectual risk-taking amongst our novice and seasoned teachers alike. Through trusting and inclusive relationships, work with faculty to cultivate a climate where everyone -- regardless of tenure or identity -- positively impacts students and continually challenges themselves to improve their craft.
