Lincoln School, founded in 1884, is an independent K-12 Quaker girls’ school in Providence, Rhode Island. We are currently seeking applicants for a full-time Lower/Middle School Art Teacher beginning in September 2021. The Art Teacher works with the Art Department to develop and deliver innovative curriculum that emphasizes:
Hands-on, inquiry-based learning.
Creative risk-taking and generative thinking.
Experimentation and exploration with a wide range of art-making materials and processes, in both 2D and 3D.
Exposure to diverse contemporary and historical artists.
An anti-racist and inclusive perspective.
We see a dynamic teacher who inspires students and works collaboratively and creatively with colleagues.
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree and teaching experience preferred
Expert teaching and diverse media skills with Grade 1- 8 students and an understanding of and appreciation for the developmental range
In-depth knowledge of content, current art education research, and best practice
The ability to design, implement, and assess an art program
A vision for an art program in the 21st century, with an eye toward innovation
Continuing interest in professional growth
Flexible team player
Strong oral and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
Professionalism in all aspects of the job
