The Speyer Legacy School seeks a dynamic, innovative, and passionate full-time Middle School In-House Substitute Teacher. This 10-month position is responsible for collaborating with faculty and staff to teach in support of the school’s mission and curricular goals and will report to the Head of Middle School. The ideal candidate possesses creative problem-solving skills, a sense of humor, enthusiasm for innovative curriculum, a positive attitude toward change and strong interpersonal skills that allow one to cooperate and collaborate effectively with others.
Duties & Responsibilities
Assist with daily arrival and dismissal procedures.
Assist with daily lunch and recess duties.
Cover classes and other school-related duties when teachers are absent, as assigned by the Middle School Division Head.
When substitute teaching:
Deliver and fully execute lesson plans as provided by the teacher.
Provide important information to the teacher about the classes upon their return.
Implement rules for behavior and classroom procedures and routines.
Communicate regularly with faculty members about classroom happenings and student progress after covering for a class(es).
Support students with basic technology needs / troubleshooting.
Engage respectfully with families and demonstrate sensitivity to cultures, values, configurations, and beliefs.
Promote respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion as a core value of the School, a shared responsibility in partnership with the school community.
Participate in faculty meetings.
Provide general support to other departments / offices within the school in the event there are no coverage needs on a given day.

Able to meet the requirements to wear masks inside the school building and around children, while also observing all other health protocols
Commitment to student health, safety, and growth
Understanding of and desire to work with school-aged children
Flexible and adaptive disposition
Prior teaching experience and / or work in schools preferred
