Lakeview Academy seeks a full-time, faculty position effective August 2021. The primary role of this position is to teach technology in the Lower School and provide professional development for teachers in the effective use of technology. The LS Technology Teacher will work with students in PreK-5th grade and will instruct them in the appropriate use of computers, devices and the ethical use of information and Internet safety, and will teach from curricula that includes coding, making, digital citizenship, and keyboarding. They must plan and teach lessons for individual classes, as well as provide support for ongoing projects with specific technology instruction which will include ongoing guidance and training for teachers in the effective use and integration of technology in their classrooms. Regular collaboration with classroom teachers to ensure the technology program is fully integrated into the school’s curriculum will be essential. This person will also provide professional development on technology, and work with the Director of Technology to plan professional development for faculty and staff. They will work with colleagues to develop a continuum of STEM skills that is developmentally appropriate at each grade level and support activities that ensure that students have those skills. The LS Technology Teacher is also responsible for the Lower School robotics club. Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher
Georgia teaching certification or certification in Instructional Technology
3 years or more teaching experience
Knowledge and experience with technology in schools such as iPads, 1:1 programs, and maker spaces
Experience in elementary coding and/or robotics
Demonstrated interest in exploring technology and how it can engage learners
Excellent writing, communication, presentation, and group facilitation skills
High comfort level with technology
Experience working and communicating effectively
Willingness to develop differentiated learning experiences
Ability to receive feedback and engage in continuous self-improvement
Ability to adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing work environment
Ability to build positive relationships with all important constituencies
Ability to work collaboratively and across teams, departments, and divisions
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with Lower School faculty and students to effectively integrate technology that engages, enhances, and extends teaching and learning in the Lower School
Build on existing technology curriculum, expand cross-curricular connections, and promote collaboration among faculty and students
Teach technology & coding curriculum in grades PreK-5th
Meet regularly with departmental teams to understand their curricular goals and plan effective technology integration strategies
Assist with coaching of Lower School Robotics club
Duties begin August 2021
Position is based on ten-month contract
