Sinai Akiba Academy is looking for an experienced primary grade teacher.
Model the school's philosophy in working with students, parents, colleagues, and administration
Work with the Lower School Director and Middle School Science Department to carry out the academic program: curriculum development and implementation, classroom management, student assessment, and parent communication
Demonstrate professionalism, including discretion, judgment, and integrity
Collaborate with grade level colleagues, as well as work closely with other Lower School faculty around teaching and learning
Write semester report cards and conduct twice yearly parent-teacher conferences for families
Attend and participate in the following: services, faculty in-service meetings, student assemblies, and other school functions, as requested
Attend weekly faculty meetings and actively participate in curricular discussions
Participate in professional development opportunities and keep current on educational issues and trends

A passion for learning and excellent oral and written communication skills are a must. A minimum of three years prior teaching experience, and knowledge of Reader's and Writer's Workshop and Responsive Classroom is essential. In addition, candidates should have a background in phonics instruction. Candidates must have a teaching credential and/or have completed a student teaching assignment.
