Winston Preparatory School is a co-ed day school for 4th through 12th grade students with learning differences such as dyslexia, nonverbal learning disabilities, expressive or receptive language disorders and executive functioning problems and ADHD. Winston Preparatory School - Marin County, California campus is searching for a full-time Focus Program Teacher for the 2021-2022 school year.
Our unique educational program for middle and upper school students with learning differences is designed to develop essential skills and challenge their strengths. Within our highly successful “Focus Program,” each student receives a daily period of one-to-one instruction concentrating on their greatest area of need. The implementation of the program has allowed us to further personalize instruction and strategies so that our students can better understand themselves, as well as verbalize their needs to become independent learners.
Focus teachers provide individualized remediation for students struggling with a wide-range of learning differences, while coordinating and facilitating consistent communication between classroom teachers and families. The nature of the position and school culture allows for someone with a varied background. Currently our Focus staff includes reading specialists, speech therapists, learning specialists, school psychologists, and social workers, as well as former lawyers and copy editors.
The successful candidate will be a highly professional, creative thinker who is flexible and works well within a team environment. Candidates must also have excellent writing and communication skills.
Master’s degree with minimum of 2-5 years of teaching or tutoring experience
Special education teaching experience is preferred but not required
Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Winston Prep is a highly individualized and responsive setting for high-potential middle and high school students with learning differences such as language based learning disabilities, nonverbal learning disabilities and executive functioning difficulties, with campuses operating in Manhattan, Norwalk, CT Whippany, NJ, Dix Hills, NY, and San Rafael, CA. The Winston Prep program is designed to challenge each student's strengths while developing the essentials of reading, writing, mathematics, organization and study skills. Each individualized education program is based upon a continuously modified understanding of the student's learning profile that evolves as the student progresses and matures. Students participate in a daily one-to-one session called Focus, designed to serve as the diagnostic, instructional and mentoring centerpiece of their experience. At the high school level, students with appropriate levels of skill mastery may participate in college courses.
