The Academy is seeking a full time Academic Resource Teacher to assess and teach skills necessary for new students to find success in the STA school environment. This position reports to the Principal for Academic Affairs.

Plan, coordinate, and offer programs tied to first-year academic success specifically STAR Seminar and #1 Club
Develop transfer orientation day, create programming for FROSH fest and other necessary transition programs for new students.
Work with first year and transfer students, in collaboration with faculty and staff, to promote skill sets necessary for academic success
Provide necessary support based on the counseling referral process for freshmen and transfer students
Participate in regular counseling meetings to coordinate support for Freshman transfer students
Teach specific academic and executive functioning skills and strategies through the STAR Seminar program
Manage STArt hour and after school guided study
Provide students with opportunities to attend open sessions for missing work/assignment completion before and/or after school, as needed
Work collaboratively with Counselors, Nurse and Administrators to identify and the address the needs of identified students during weekly counseling meetings
Maintain parent communication and documentation for identified students
Collaborate with other counselors to maintain list of tutors/summer credit recovery options to be sent to parents
Review and evaluate existing programs, services, policies, and procedures related to the transition to high school.
Comply with all company policies and procedures and adhere to counseling department?standards, including but not limited to attendance at new parent orientation, open house, back to school night, parent/teacher conferences, registration information

Strong computer skills including Microsoft Teams and Google apps

Ability to design (individually or in collaboration with others) high quality professional development for teachers/school staff
